Case Study: Containing Sacramento Apartment Damage After Fire

By The ShrinkWrap Co | | 2.7.23

The Shrink Wrap Company was awarded the shrink wrap containment contract for two apartment buildings damaged by fire at The Palms Apt complex in Sacramento, Calif. The 16 units damaged in the June 2020 fire required shrink wrap containment.

We were tasked with three responsibilities:

1. Protect the adjacent undamaged occupied apartment units and tenants during the upcoming rainy season, preventing additional revenue loss.

2. Prevent unauthorized access to the fire-damaged units to limit potential vandalism and theft.

3. Protect the fire-damaged units from further damage due to exposure to UV, wind, rain, and the elements.

On October 24 and 25, 2021, our trained technicians mobilized to apply 12 mil. white flame retardant shrink wrap supplied by our trade partner Dr. Shrink. Dr. Shrink is the nation’s leader as shrink-wrap supplier.

The 12 mil shrink wrap was applied to scaffolding supplied by our trade partner Skyline Scaffold. Scaffolding provides an excellent framework for the application of shrink wrap, ensuring a long-lasting, weathertight shrink-wrapped project. The project duration was in excess of 180 days so maximum UVI shrink film was used for long-term durability. Our trained technicians installed walls and a roof for each building protecting assets and allowing for reconstruction of the apartment buildings.
